EU commissioner congratulates Pashinyan

PanARMENIAN.Net - Marta Kos, the European Commissioner for Enlargement, has congratulated Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on the victory of the Civil Contract party in the parliamentary elections. She announced this in a post on X.

Kos stated that the EU-Armenia working group begins its activities on June 8.

"Amid large-scale pressure and interference from Russia, this victory reaffirms the choice of the Armenian people for a strong, sovereign, and independent Armenia.

I will return to Armenia as soon as possible. Europe continues to stand in solidarity with Armenia.

Today we will also begin our work in the new EU-Armenia working group to deepen our partnership," she wrote.

The commissioner emphasized the European Union's continued commitment to strengthening cooperation with Armenia and advancing bilateral initiatives.

According to the preliminary results of the June 7 National Assembly elections, the vote distribution was as follows: Civil Contract - 49.825%, Strong Armenia - 23.281%, Armenia Alliance - 9.934%, and Prosperous Armenia - 3.996%. Under these updated figures, the Prosperous Armenia Party does not clear the 4% electoral threshold required for parliamentary representation.
